When the dust finally settled and President Barack Obama had won the election and secured the White House for another four years, the first call he made was to former President Bill Clinton.
Obama was in a room with campaign manager Jim Messina and senior advisers David Axelrod and David Plouffe, when he received a call from Gov. Romney, according to a report.

After the call, which the President reportedly said was a  'very classy' gesture, he hung up and immediately called President Bill Clinton.

According to sources, President Obama called Clinton to thank him for his work on the president' re-election campaign, reports Fox News.

Earlier in the campaign the relationship between the two was anything but warm and fuzzy.
Four years ago, when Obama was running against Hillary Clinton in a bitter battle, president Clinton called Obama's campaign the 'biggest fairy tale' he’d ever seen.

Even when Clinton finally got on board to campaign for Obama, there were apparent tensions. The biggest being the reportedly heated exchange between the two after President Clinton went 45 minutes over his speech time during the Democratic National Convention, upstaging President Obama's speech.

Many have thought Clinton campaigned for Obama in hopes Obama would help Ms Clinton run for president in 2016.
Ms Clinton, meanwhile, mainstains that she has no interest in running for office and plans to leave politics after serving her  one term as Secretary of State.
