Chocolate Labrador Alucia is the helpful hound who does all sorts of chores for disabled owner Pam Quick

Dog they say is man's Best friend

Alucia is the helpful hound who does all sorts of chores for her wheelchair-bound owner - including emptying the washing machine, fetching post and picking up phones.
Owner Pam Quick, 57, said: 'She is an absolute sweetheart, I don’t know what I did before her.

'I love having her around, she is adorable.
'She does all sorts for me - she empties the washing machine, puts clothes in the laundry basket and then pulls the basket to the airer so I can hang them up.'

The two-year-old dog will also fetch her own bowl from the cupboard, return it when she has finished eating and lift Pam’s foot onto her wheelchair.

And when Pam gives the command, Alucia will run to fetch the post.
Pam has been a wheelchair user since breaking bones in her back in 2000 and applied to Canine Partners to get a dog.
Pam said: 'I'm currently teaching her how to open the dishwasher.
'There is a little string on the handle, which she can pull down but she has to put her paws on it to get it all the way down to the floor.
'She doesn’t like the feel of metal, so the fact she is doing it is a really good sign.
'Canine Partners have been wonderful - all their help and training has been amazing.
'I am so grateful to them for everything they have done.'
