Ekiti: Teacher 51 Remanded in Prisons for Allegedly Defiling Four Pupils
Mathew Oluyede, a
51-year-old pupil teacher, was on Monday remanded in Ado-Ekiti Prisons for
allegedly defiling four pupils.
Oluyede, whose address is
unknown, is facing a charge of defilement at an Ado Ekiti Magistrates’ Court. Magistrate
Taiwo Ajibade, who did not take the plea of the accused, said he should be kept
behind bars until the next date of adjournment.
She said the case file
should be duplicated and sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions
(DPP) for legal advice.
The prosecutor, Sgt.
Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the accused committed the offence between
Oct. 19 and Oct. 21 at Ayetoro-Ekiti in Ido Council Area of the state.
According to him, Oluyede
defiled four minors (names withheld) of between ages two to nine. He urged the
court to remand the accused immediately. The offence contravened Section 218 of
the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti, 2012.
According to NAN, the
accused, on conviction, may be sentenced to life imprisonment. The case has
been adjourned to Nov. 17 pending DPP's advice.
