Mandela's portrait to be Auctioned
The portrait will be auctioned on Tuesday at the Stephan Welz & Company in Constantia, Cape Town.
Speaking on SABC's television programme Morning Live on Monday, Stone said it was intimidating to paint a portrait of Mandela.
"It was intimidating because here we had the most famous man on the planet, a man with enormous charisma, and a man who obviously had greatness in abundance."
He says that the sittings started off on a very good note. "Mr Mandela was one of those extraordinary people that had that common touch".
He adds that the portrait is remarkable in that Madiba gave him a considerable amount of time and that it was very rare for him to sit for a portrait.
