Katherine Jackson asks fans for funds to finish family-made documentary with singer's 3 children

In an open letter to his fans, the 83-year-old matriarch of the Jackson family asked for financial help to finish the Remembering Michael documentary.
Katherine Jackson has reached out to the fans of her late pop superstar son Michael Jackson to help fund a family-made documentary.

The family shared portions of the documentary earlier this week, and it featured Michael's youngest  son Blanket, 11, who spoke for the first time about his father since the singer's death in 2009.

In her letter, Katherine said she was co-producing the documentary, and it 'needs to feature many video clips and musical moments', but noted 'because it is Michael, the cost to license everything is prohibitively expensive.'

A lawyer for the late singer's estate, however, said the Jackson family had not contacted him nor any of his associates asking for permission to use Michael's images and music, according to a report on TMZ.

Katherine stated in the letter that the Jackson family have created a limited collection of rewards not available in stores for fans who contribute to the documentary.
For example, fans who donate $29 would receive a commemorative T-shirt and online access to the documentary.
